You might be interested to know how one of my books came to be written. You might imagine a scene with the author spending long hours in a library, collecting data from hundreds of books and innumerable authors, or taking university courses in psychology, philosophy or theology, or having a comfortable room at home with thousands of books for reference from which to spin this wonderful tale.
Such an image could not be further from the facts. This book has been written in hotels, motels, boarding houses, bed and breakfast places, private homes, on trains, buses, aeroplanes and boats, and while sitting on the grass in the countryside. Various parts were written in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Hungary. This pattern of moving about the globe has been my life.
When I write or teach, I do so by Inspiration. I do not research any topic, nor do I have a definite plan or prepared notes. The Inspiration flows by itself from Higher Consciousness. The material comes from Causal Consciousness, from Superconsciousness (the Wisdom-Mind), or from Cosmic Consciousness.
Inspiration is a Latin word which means “to breathe in”. It refers to the physical breath process. When one is under the spell of true Inspiration it does affect the breathing. Quite literally, the breath is drawn into oneself. When I am lecturing, the breath (Prana, the life-force) becomes more concentrated within me. At the same time I become more abstracted from my environment, yet on another level more one with it. It is a curious phenomenon.
Another peculiar fact is that, when I am writing or lecturing, an energy-shift takes place. The people around me are bathed in a field of Energy, a Higher Consciousness, in which they see and know things more clearly than they normally would. People who have attended many of my talks can feel these Energy fields around me as I speak. Not only am I changed, but they are changed also, to the degree that they can respond to this Higher Energy. When I speak from Superconsciousness the Energy is definitely more intense and concentrated than when I speak from Causal Consciousness.
As I write or lecture, quotations are given to my mind. Within the flow of Inspirationwhich is my own Higher Mind in sympathetic vibration with the Cosmic Mindreferences are given to what other Mystics and Masters have said about a particular facet of Truth. This is why I cannot provide the exact source of these quotations. I quote the fact, the truth, the idea, and usually do not know what book it comes from. In the stream of Inspiration, such physical details do not seem relevant. Nor do I have time to check the quotations in libraries, as I never go near them. I have other things to do.
Another curious fact is that, so far as spiritual truths are concerned, I perceive the ancient languages as living realities. My consciousness perceives, in a deep and profound sense, what the ancient words meantheir original meanings, before those meanings became lost through centuries of ignorance and misuse.
I have no education to speak of. My native tongue is Hungarian. I did not finish school in Hungary, as at fifteen years of age I emigrated to Austria and then to New Zealand. I attempted to finish school in New Zealand, but my English was poor. That is the extent of my formal education.
Since I was very young, however, I have had all kinds of unusual experiences relating to the inner worlds, the higher planes, other states of consciousness, and so forth. But I do not have a fixed mind in matters of spiritual truths. I cannot ever say, “This is it, this is the final truth or answer,” since I know of no boundary or limit. My consciousness is always in a state of expansion, of limitless formulation.
Spiritual truths are real to me. They are not just intellectual ideas, hypotheses or theories. They are as factual as the trees, the sky, the Sun and the Moon, so I do not have to struggle to accept spiritual realities. God to me is a fact, the Christ is a fact, the Soul is a fact, reincarnation is a fact, mystical experience is a fact. I have no doubts about such things. I simply know them, live them, intimately, by a primordial Consciousness, with which I was born. Spiritual realities are as natural as water to drink or food to eat.
Thus did this book come to be written.
